A custom acoustic booth built around H4’s filming workflow.
H4 Consulting came to Envoy with a specific goal: a purpose-built recording booth that would let their team produce high-quality video content without leaving the office. They knew exactly how they wanted to work inside it. Our job was to figure out how to build it.
From the initial brief through to final installation, the project combined precise acoustic engineering with a design that reflects H4’s creative identity.
1. Starting with a clear vision
H4 arrived with a detailed brief that already considered the day-to-day reality of using the space. That clarity made all the difference.
Their requirements covered both function and feel:
- A compact acoustic booth sized around their filming workflow
- Integrated shelf space for a laptop and camera setup
- Dedicated power for lighting and video equipment
- A curtain backdrop to soften internal corners for video
- A window for visibility from the office
- An overhead mounting rail for lighting
- Integrated ventilation
They also had a strong visual direction in mind, a colourful “Lego brick” aesthetic that would give the booth its own personality within the office.
2. Translating the idea into a buildable layout
Envoy’s first step was to take H4’s concept and translate it into a workable layout based on standard Studiobricks modules. This meant defining the external footprint, internal desk position, door swing, ventilation routing and cable management before anything was ordered or built.
Sharing early drafts with the H4 team at this stage meant they could review how the booth would actually sit and function inside their specific office environment, and flag anything that needed adjusting before it became a problem.
3. Refining the details
One of the strengths of this project was the pace of design iteration between teams. Adjustments were made quickly, and each one improved the daily experience of using the booth.
A good example: the desk was redesigned with an angled corner so it would sit clear of the door’s swing arc. It’s a small change on paper, but in a compact recording environment where every centimetre matters, details like this are what separate a booth that works from one that frustrates.
4. Finding the right finish
H4’s original vision called for individually coloured blocks to create a Lego-style exterior. After reviewing the tile system in detail, Envoy recommended a different approach.
Applying different colours across individual tiles wouldn’t deliver the clean, durable finish the design deserved. Instead, the team moved to a factory-applied colour; consistent, long-lasting, and more refined in person.
The chosen finish was RAL 3033 Pearl Pink. It gives the booth a distinct identity inside the office without competing with the work happening inside it.
5. Finalising the design
With layout and finish confirmed, the final 3D design locked in every detail before manufacturing: booth dimensions, ventilation placement, desk geometry, cable routing, and window position.
This stage exists to eliminate surprises. By the time materials are ordered and panels start arriving, every decision has already been made and reviewed.
6. Installation on site
Envoy’s installation team assembled the booth inside H4’s office once manufacturing and delivery were complete. The modular construction allows each panel to be installed in sequence, with acoustic treatment and internal finishes applied progressively through the build.
Working within a live office environment requires coordination. The process was managed to minimise disruption and leave the space clean at the end of each day.
7. The finished booth
The finished booth sits neatly inside H4’s office while providing a fully isolated recording environment. The integrated window maintains visual connection with the wider space, and the ventilation system keeps the interior comfortable during longer sessions.
The acoustic treatment controls reflections and outside noise simultaneously, the kind of environment that lets you focus on the content rather than the room.
8. From Installation to Published Content
The booth was integrated with production equipment supplied by Ridge Films, creating a complete in house recording studio.
Within weeks of installation, they had already produced and published their first video from inside the space demonstrating the quality of both the acoustics and the recording setup.
