Envoy’s role: Import and delivery
The brief
Harrold & Kite Pty Ltd engaged Envoy to supply a custom Chameleon Curve Wall for a fit-out at a university campus in South Australia, a large-format writable wall panel with softened, curved corners rather than the boxy edges of a standard whiteboard. At 1.98m high and 3.92m wide, the finished piece was sized to make a statement across an entire wall, while the rounded profile (a 140mm radius on each corner) let it sit comfortably alongside the softer, curved design language already used elsewhere in the space.
For this project, Envoy’s role was to source and import the panel from Chameleon and manage its delivery to site. Installation was carried out by others.
The product
The Chameleon Curve Wall is built as a four-panel system, with each 980mm-wide section joining seamlessly to form the full 3.92m span. Under the surface, the construction is designed for both durability and everyday use:
- A 0.4mm ceramic steel writing surface (Indoor Air Quality Certified to SCS-EC10.3-2014 v4.0), fully magnetic and dry-erase, and rated for very intensive use
- A 9mm MDF carrier (FSC 70% certified)
- A 0.4mm galvanized steel backing sheet
- An overall panel thickness of 10mm
For this project, the panel was specified in the Satin Snow finish with edges painted in RAL 2004, a warm burnt-orange tone that gives the otherwise clean white surface a defined, tailored edge.
Mounting is via Chameleon’s TÜV-certified magnetic mounting system, and the panel carries a 2-year product warranty alongside a lifetime warranty on writeability and dry erasure.
In the space
Installed within a meeting room on the university campus, the curve wall reads as a single, uninterrupted writing surface rather than a bank of separate boards, the panel joins are barely visible, and the rounded corners echo the arched, curved patterning used on the surrounding acoustic wall panelling. It gives the room a large-scale, fully writable and magnetic surface without breaking the clean, considered look of the fit-out around it.
Why it works
Large writable surfaces are often treated as a purely functional add-on, bolted onto a wall wherever space allows. The brief for this project called for something that could do double duty: a genuinely high-use magnetic whiteboard, sized to anchor an entire wall, but detailed (rounded corners, a matched painted edge) so it complements the architecture rather than interrupting it. The custom size, curved profile and RAL-matched edge treatment were what made that possible.
