What We’re Bringing to EDUTech 26: Studiobricks Podcast Duo

Part of the Envoy EDUTech 26 Series

Schools have spent the last decade rethinking what a learning environment looks like. The open plan took hold. Flexible furniture followed. Collaboration became the organising principle. But somewhere along the way, a different kind of space got overlooked: one where students and staff can record, produce, and create audio content at a level that sounds professional.

Ahead of EDUtech Australia 2026, we’re bringing the Studiobricks Podcast Duo to our stand. It’s a product that speaks directly to the growing number of schools building podcast programmes, media electives, and student-led content initiatives, and struggling to find a space where the audio actually sounds right.

The Problem with Recording in Schools

Schools across Australia are running podcasting units in English, media studies, and HASS, investing in microphones, audio interfaces, and editing software, and building genuine capability in student content creation. The infrastructure for audio production has arrived in a way that would have seemed unlikely ten years ago. What hasn’t kept pace is the physical environment those programmes need to produce work that sounds as good as it reads.

When it’s time to record, most schools fall back on whatever improvised space is available: a corridor corner, a storeroom, a quiet section of the library. The results are consistent in the wrong way. HVAC noise bleeds through, footsteps register in hallways outside, and a class next door becomes an unwanted collaborator. The recording captures the room at least as much as it captures the voice, and no amount of post-production fixes a recording environment that was never right to begin with.

For students learning the craft, this becomes a ceiling on what they can achieve. When the technique is there and the content is strong but the audio quality consistently falls short, the problem isn’t the student; it’s the space. A purpose-built acoustic environment removes that ceiling entirely and lets the work speak for itself.

Inside the workings of the Studiobricks Podcast Duo

What the Studiobricks Podcast Duo Is

The Podcast Duo is a freestanding, soundproof booth designed specifically for two-person podcast production: interviews, conversations, discussions, and broadcast-style content. It seats two people comfortably at a built-in folding table, with professional microphone arms, LED lighting, and a silent ventilation system all included as standard.

The headline specification is the acoustic performance. Using Studiobricks’ patented double-wall construction, the Podcast Duo achieves a certified average of 45 dB of sound isolation, with isolation reaching up to 62 dB at specific frequencies according to ISO measurement. In practical terms, that means a busy school corridor outside the booth becomes acoustically irrelevant, and the audio captured inside stays there. It is the kind of performance that makes the difference between a recording that sounds like it was made in a school and one that sounds like it was made in a studio.

The external footprint is 121 x 198 x 226 cm, with internal dimensions of 105 x 180 x 210 cm, and it requires a minimum ceiling height of 232 cm along with a standard power connection. Beyond that, there is nothing: no construction work, no fixed installation, no structural modifications to the building. It arrives, it gets assembled using the BRICK system, and it works.

”""Schools that invest in podcast and media programmes often find that the recording environment is the last piece of the puzzle, and the hardest to solve well. The Studiobricks Podcast Duo gives them a space that is genuinely ready to record from day one, without any acoustic compromise. That changes what students can produce, and what teachers can reasonably ask of them.""

Built for Education, Not Just Production Companies

The Podcast Duo was developed for professional content studios and broadcast environments, but several of its core characteristics translate directly into the demands of an education setting in ways that purpose-built studio furniture rarely does.

Portability and Reassembly

Studiobricks’ patented BRICK system allows the booth to be fully disassembled and reassembled without screws, which means it can move with the school rather than being fixed to a single location. For schools that reconfigure spaces seasonally, need the booth available for events or open days, or want to share the resource across campuses, this is a meaningful operational advantage that a built-in recording room simply cannot offer. The acoustic performance is identical after reassembly.

Sustainable and Safe Materials

The materials students spend time inside matter, and Studiobricks has approached this with some rigour. The Podcast Duo uses no added formaldehyde MDF panels and water-based paint throughout, with recycled PET acoustic absorbers that are TUV SUD certified for indoor air quality and rated at zero emissions. Those absorbers are also 20% more effective than traditional acoustic foam, which improves both the safety profile and the recording quality inside the booth.

Equipped to Record

The standard configuration includes Yellowtec professional microphone arms, the folding table, LED lighting, cable ports for up to 10 cables, and the ventilation system, which means schools only need to add their preferred microphones and audio interface to have a fully functional recording environment. There is no additional fitout required and no separate equipment list to work through before the booth is usable.

Colour and Customisation

The exterior can be specified in over 200 RAL Classic colours, with three options for the interior absorber finish, giving schools the ability to integrate the booth into an existing media studio aesthetic or align it with a broader interior scheme. For schools where the booth will be a visible centrepiece of a learning space, this flexibility matters more than it might initially seem.

How Schools Are Using It

Schools that have installed the Podcast Duo tend to find it earns its place across a wider range of activity than the original brief anticipated:

  • Podcast and media units. Students produce assessed audio content in an environment where the technical quality matches the creative expectation, without the compromise of recording in an improvised space.
  • Student journalism and radio. Schools with journalism programmes or student radio stations have a dedicated recording environment capable of producing broadcast-quality output.
  • Oral assessment and presentation practice. Drama, language, and public speaking programmes benefit from a space where students can rehearse and record without an audience, in an environment that takes the work seriously.
  • Staff professional development content. Schools producing their own CPD resources, parent communication recordings, or internal training materials have a space where the output sounds credible rather than improvised.
  • Events and open days. Because the booth can be relocated without losing its acoustic performance, it can be moved for events or demonstrations and returned to its regular position without any reinstallation process.

The Installation Question

The Podcast Duo weighs 640 kg fully assembled, which is worth accounting for in placement decisions, but it requires no floor fixing, no wall attachment, and no building works of any kind beyond a standard power connection. The 232 cm minimum ceiling height covers most contemporary school library and learning commons builds, though older buildings are worth checking against before specifying.

Because assembly and disassembly with the BRICK system is straightforward and does not require specialist tools or tradespeople, the Podcast Duo functions as a relocatable asset rather than a fixed installation. It moves with the programme rather than with the building, which changes the investment calculus for schools thinking about how spaces and curricula might evolve over a ten-year horizon.

Come and See Us at EDUTech 26

The Studiobricks Podcast Duo will be at our stand at EDUtech Australia 2026. The most efficient way to evaluate it is to step inside and hear what 45 dB of isolation actually does to the ambient noise of a busy exhibition floor. Our team will be on hand to discuss placement, specification, curriculum integration, and how the Studiobricks range fits alongside the other learning environment solutions we’re showcasing at the event.

This article is part of Envoy’s EDUTech 26 series. We’ll be publishing further pieces on learning environment design in the lead-up to the event.
